Just Doug: I'm Just Saying!
Doug Michael Rowell
JUST DOUG traces the life of Doug Rowell from his birth in 1937 to over the eighty-six and a half years later to today. Doug’s grandmother Hilda was born in a small coal town south of Dublin. After migrating to Australia, Hilda and Doug’s parents struggled through two World Wars, and a Depression to raise a family of six, in total.
In tracing his life, Doug adopts the mantle of Nostradamus Incarnate, and at times the manifestation of the Pub Test personified. In so-doing, Doug claims the authority to comment on a wide range of social and economic subjects, because they manifested the world in which he lived.
Doug vehemently states that he is basing his story on truth, with the occasional sojourn into melancholy and folly, to keep the story interesting. It is therefore up to the reader to detect which is which. He claims, as an Australian citizen, he was the epitome of a person who struggles to survive and thrive. Doug deals with subjects such as democracy, religion, domestic violence, defiance, sport, sex and the national debt.
There is something for everyone in this book.

When I saw the interview on TV I thought he was a very interesting man and bought his book straight away. He is obviously very clever and has tavelled widely. I liked the way he handled the challenges life threw at him. However I stopped reading the book when I came to the section on the Jews. In my opinion pure rubbish. Jews have been in the disputed area for nearly 4000 years. they have lived peacefully in Australia since 1788. There are no Jews in jail for terrorist or threatened terrorist attacks, no jews are having demonstrations every week (costing tax payers thousands of dollars) demanding that any group of people should be pushed 'from the river to the sea' or to bring back the holocaust. No Jew has defaced anyones house. So perhaps if Doug wishes to re publish his interesting story he should re think this particular chapter.
Go Doug, you deserve every success 😊
Everyone should buy and read this book just for the reason why not , if only that we are helping a true Aussie citizen and help him to regain his money back
I’m buying one this week
