Who knew?
When Maureen was a child, a much-loved aunt gave her a scallop shell. She kept it with all her other ‘childhood treasures’; it was special, but she didn’t know why. It was a seed, just waiting to sprout.
For some people, the Camino inches its way into your life; it creeps up on you. Then it pops up everywhere and doesn’t leave you alone. Before you know it you’ve put on your walking shoes and you are ‘out there’ pounding the pavement.
That’s what happened to Maureen.
In 2017 she walked the Camino Frances and each night of that Camino, Maureen
wrote up a diary account of the day’s events. She didn’t want to forget any of
this journey.
The Camino Frances begins in the picturesque village of St. Jean Pied de Port in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. It makes its way across northern Spain to the Galician city of Santiago de Compostela, site of a magnificent cathedral dedicated to James, the Apostle of Jesus Christ.
