The allure and fascination of mountains began with the ascent in 1953 of Mt Crookneck in the Glasshouse Mountains of South East Queensland, and they endure to the present day. Adventures in the mountains were integrated through a professional life, and are presented in semi-diarist form. The evolution of climbing techniques and equipment are considered.
