On a hot and humid New Year’s Day 1901, in Sydney’s Centennial Park, a new nation is  born, brought about not by war or revolution, nor secession, but rather by the ballot box. One nation, one destiny. Australia is eager to take her place on the world stage. But the world in the first half of the 20th century is complex and often hostile.

An Attractive Naivety follows the lives of three generations of an Australian family living during this turbulent period. Tragedy strikes when Armistice Darcy’s ship is sunk by Japanese bombers at the fall of Singapore in February 1942. Her uncle, Norman Darcy, a guard at the Prisoner of War camp in Cowra, NSW, is left to deal with psychological trauma after a thousand Japanese soldiers attempt a breakout in August 1944.

It is a story of resilience in the face of adversity, heartbreak and unwavering commitment to one’s convictions.
